Belize’s Tourism Gold Standard Certification Program

Villa Rising Sun is a certified Gold Standard hotel. In addition to this certification, we have also taken additional proactive and voluntary steps to ensure all our customers have a safe and healthy experience.

Masks are required when in public spaces but not while at Villa Rising Sun but we will always wear a mask to protect you. However, while in country facemasks are mandatory in all public spaces except our many restaurants and on aquatic tours, and you’re advised to practice social distancing and proper hand hygiene, to protect yourself and others you come in contact with.

The following are some guidelines to help you prepare for your trip and know what to expect when you arrive in Belize.

Before Your Visit

We encourage you to take a Covid-19 PCR test within 4 days (instead of the previously stipulated 3 days) of travel to Belize, as a negative result will allow for a ‘fast track’ arrival process. Rapid Antigen, Sophia, SD Biosensor, ABBOT (Panbio) test results will also be accepted - taken no more than 48 hours prior to travel. If you do not bring a test, allow about 1/2 hour additional time. A positive test result will require you to quarantine with at an approved hotel, at your expense, until the Ministry of Health provides clearance.

Update Jan 14, 2021: The Belize Tourism Board (BTB) hereby confirms that testing will be available to all passengers departing Belize for the U.S.
The clinic just a few miles from Villa Rising Sun is offering 30 minute testing with all paperwork completed for your return trip at $75. a new testing facility is to open in Hopkins and will be supplemented by the government to offer and even less expensive option.
